UPDATE! + a little writing.

So first things first, I'm sorry to all of you for not updating more often but we still have no internet at my mom's and I still have only the old desktop to use at my dad's.

Now, just so you all know, as soon as I have everything set-up to my liking I will be moving my mane blog to http://ameliadogwood.wordpress.com/ .
I will still be posting her on occasion but that one will be my mane one.
I am hopping on having that one up and running full swing in a month or so.

Now for the writing!
This is one of thous stories I wrote purely for my own enjoyment and it isn't in the least way edited so I'm sorry if it's a little on the random side but here is one of my favorite scenes so far from my story Night Life.

I took a deep breath of the cold night air. Though my bliss was quickly interrupted by the clear sound of a twig snapping no more then twig feet behind me. I realised that any normal human would be frightened out of the wits--though few would admit it.
"Go away Damien," I said my voice thick with annoyance.
"But where's the fun in that?" I heard his voice clearly in my head.
"Get out of my head and go away."
"Why?" he asked allowed at least honoring one of my requests. "You afraid to fight me? Afraid I might win?" he said mockingly from his perch in a large oak tree.
I scoffed, "I'm more afraid of a field mouse then I am of you." I said staring him in the eyes. "Not to mention, I'm here, out in the open, my weapons at the ready wall you are hiding away in the branches of a tree like the rodent you are. Pathetic."
"Take that back," he growled.
"I have no dizzier to take back which is the truth," I said unfazed.
"At least I'm not human! I could take you on any day easy. Especially on a full moon." he said boastfully.
"Then why are you staling?"
On thous words he jumped from the tree pining me to the ground. I kneed him in the chest, not a hard blow but enough to throw him off balance. I then reached for my knife and sliced his right leg. He's a vampire so it healed quickly but it made him mad. He ran toward me, fangs bared. I knew his moves so I was able to quickly doge without much effort.
"What's wrong Damien? To fast for you?" I said as I lept behind him and kicked his legs out from under him.
"No. You?" he said as he quickly recovered and punched me sending me flying in to a tree.
I was dizzy and my head was throbbing like crazy but I couldn't let that slow me down. I jumped forwarded and sliced his arm.
"As if."
I quickly pounced on top of him and scraped his neck with my knife. "I win," I said smirking.
The rule of most vampire battles that weren't to the death was first bite wins. Since I don't bite and don't really plan to I use my knife.
"The grove is still mine," I say proudly. "Now get out."
"I didn't want your stupid grove anyway. I just needed to fight something and you where the only person I knew win or loose I would still have the pleasure of annoying."
I understood his need to fight. I felt it too, the extreme adrenalin rush the full moon brings.
"Just leave," I said again.
"Not until I get my consolation prize," he said biting into my neck.
I fought back but not wholeheartedly. I knew there was no point. I couldn't fight him off this way, and I knew he wouldn't kill me. We weren't exactly friends but nether of up would ever want to kill each other. He was truthfully one of the only vampires I would trust to fed on me. Not to mention that--next to Nathan--Damien had the most self control when it came to feeding of anyone I knew. He finally drew back, liking his lips.
I glared at him.
"What?"
"You little leach," I said cracking a mischiefs smile.
Knifes forgotten I pounced on him and we weaseled together in the soft cool moss. But this time there was no competition, just pure play.

UPDATE! + Story quote!

Okay first update! I will be leaving for Japan on Tuesday so I will not be able to post anything until I get back on August 10th. When I get back though I plan on sharing some of my travel journal entries with all of you:)

Now on the the writing piece! This is the first chapter of my still unfinished, unedited, novel END TIMES. I have posted both here and on facebook lots of spinets but I haven't posted this part yet so have fun!

8/29/2092 Around 7:00am
It’s just nine days after the apocalypse. And everyday since I have seen the dead laying in the streets--or what use to be streets. I suppose I should feel lucky to have survived, but with all this distribution, and the scientists saying we have to evacuate the planet, I don’t feel vary lucky.
I don’t really know if I even want to go, earth is my home, I want to save it, but I still want to live.
And I know it’s hopeless anyway. The scientists couldn’t stop it. How would I? I mean I’m just a 16 year old girl. I sighed as I held tight to the small uncut sapphire necklace my grandma had given me when I was just nine years old. It was the night before she dyed. She said to always keep it with me and to never forget her. A tear rolled down my cheek. It was seven years ago but I still miss her.
“Emma? You okay?” my brother asked.
“Ya, I’m fine Jared.” I said as I quickly whipped away my tears and stuck the necklace back in my shirt.
“Okay, well the ship leaves tomorrow so be ready.”
“OK, but I still don’t see why we have to take the vary last ship out.” I said folding my arms.
“Because, they wanted to get the scientists out first, then the people who could do the most work, then the rest of us.”
“I guess…” I sighed
“Right. Now get ready.” he said as he turned away.
He left the small alcove that was my “room” in the bomb shelter that was our “home” until the ship left.
I guess it is in my best interest to leave…but you know how some times what’s in your best interests isn’t really in your best interests? That’s how I fell right now.

Finaly some writting!

So here's ether the beginning of the first chapter or the prologue (I haven't disided which yet) of a yet-to-be-named story.

Hope you like it! And give me any feed-back you can!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Chelo music still wrong in my ears even after I woke up after having that dream again.
I had been having the same dream every night for the past three months. and it was starting to scar me.
Every time it started out the same: I'm standing in a corn feel with no one ells around me. But the suddenly I'm somehow pushed deep in to the ground in to a dark casim. I can't see anything my I can hear plenty. There are what I can tell from there voices two men and one woman. And they're always arguing about something...
"No, we must strike sooner then that to keep the humans at bay." The first man will say.
"Come now, they pose no real threat. We can stay here lesherly for the next five months if we wish and no one will be the wiser." the secant man will answer.
"Says you! But I know better! You remember last time you though "Nothing would go wrong"?"
"Now boys, it won't help anything for you to keep fighting like this!" Says the woman.
"Shut up!" they'll both answer.
"Quiet, I smell a human here." The fist man.
"Don't be silly! No human could get down here."
My hart ponds, I know what will happen. First I'll hear the chelo music--my dreams often have movie sound tracks--and the a bright light will shine and I'll instantly feel like I'm on firer. Then I here all three voices laughing. Laughing!
The light dims just enough for me to see though it a little. I can never see the three faces but what I do see is three pares of big, black, wings.
Also, sorry of any typos!
Vampire (a poem)
Okay so here's a poem I wrote a long time ago but I though I might as well post it on my blog as well.
They live by night not by day,
They can make your fears both come and go away.
Beneath the moon their teeth shine bright,
Withing the streets they prowl at night.
With skin as pale and white as snow,
But if you take a closer look they go.
I feel there breath upon my back,
and pray that I might not be a snack.
They are always such a thing to admire,
the lovely, the beautiful,vampire.
The Poem of the Sphinx
Here's a poem I wrote based off of the riddle of the Sphinx.
The Poem of the Sphinx
A baby wakes in the morning.
Crawling toward the sun.
In the afternoon, a man comes home from work.
The sun hie over head.
And as the sun sets, a old man walks with his cane to his bed.
For the start of a new day.
(Sorry for any tipoes. Hope you liked it!)
Synopsis for "Possessed"
I'm sorry it has been sooooooooooo long since I last posted but with only one computer available (and not often) it's hard to keep up.
I am sorry to say I don't have anything good to put up but if I don't post something it will get boring right?
Okay, so I have a new story going though I'm sorry to say it is not up anywhere as of yet and there are no good quotes to give you yet.
I will however give you a synopsis. Hopefully, that can hold you off.
POSSESSED is a story about 16-year-old Aileen who is completely normal until she gets a note from a person--or thing--who only calls them self C. When her and her best friend Lavada follow the note's instructions and meet this C under the old oak tree they find that C isn't a person at all but a thing after all.
After fainting Aileen wakes up to find Lavada in a coma, her parents filing for devours, her math teacher dieing and a abnormally large number of cats following her.
The reason? Aileen is now possessed by a demon.
Now set on making things right Aileen has to fight against the voices in her head--not no mention the forces of hell--and get her mind back. But even if she dose will it be soon enough to save her friend?
Okay so the synopsis it's self is also a work in progress but did it get you exited for when I can final get some of it worth posting?
Short Story #1 "The Hill"
(Okay so this is my first attempt at flash fiction--which is really short shorts--and it is all description which I suck at so I hope it's okay. Oh and sorry if there are a few misspellings)
The Hill
There I was, atop the heist hill in the hole village. I lay there on my back, just looking up at the clouds.
I normally came here to be alone but today, I came to be with him.
I see him coming up from the other side of the hills. His hair is the color of the bark on the trees, his skin that of a deers antlers, his eyes as bright and blue as the sky, and his smile that of a angel's.
He walks so slowly and gracefully up the hill his movement seems like a gentle breeze.
He silently waves at me and I return the motion.
Then from behind him comes his wife. I watch them in a small embrace.
I know I may never know such love. But just watching them--knowing that it exists--always gives me a flicker of hope.
A One Million Monkeys snippet.
Okay so if you don't know what One Million Monkeys is I'll tell you. It's a writing site where one person starts a story and other people add to it. Now this is a snippet I wrote for a "choose your own adventure story" Tell me how you like it and feel free to continue it in the comments if you feel like it. (I'll have a link to the site at the bottom of the post.)
******************************************
You're walking to you're friend's house for a 'surprise' birthday party. She had said it was just a sleepover but you had known it was a surprise party for weeks.
It's about 6:00pm so it's about a half hour till sunset. It's in the beginning of fall so the whether is just starting to get cold. A gust of wind blows and you shiver despite the thick jacket with the words 'I'm me; get use to it!' on the back. You where never sure exactly what it meant--just some self empowering thing--but the jacket it's self was good and warm.
It's about twelve blocks from your house to your friends, but there is a short cut...but it also happens to go though most of the creepier ally ways in town.
You already had a track meet today and your feet are killing you. You really don't want to walk twelve blocks right now.
So do you?
a) take the short cut.
b) suck it up and walk the twelve blocks.
c) screw the hole thing and ask you're friend to come to your house.
Prompt #5
They've done it! They have created a time machine! And They've chosen you to test it out! They end up sending to 100 years into the future.What does the future look like 100 years from now?
Response to Writer's Digest prompt.
Here is my response to a prompt on the Writer's Digest website. Okay here's the prompt: One week after attending the funeral of a close friend, you receive a postcard in the mail with the words, "I'm not dead. Meet me tonight at Guido's Pizzeria. Tell no one."
And here's my response:
****************
It had been about a week since Andy died. He had been my best friend and since he died I've barley had the energy to get out of bed in the morning let alone leave the house. Really the only thing that I ever did really get out of bed for--minus the essentials--was to get the mail. I've always liked reading junk mail when I'm depressed. But today with all the cable and credit-card offers I got a post card as well. The front had a picture of a duck talking on a cellphone--it had been a inside joke between Andy and me--and on the back it said:
I'm not dead. Meet me tonight at Guido's Pizzeria. Tell no one.
"Andy?" I whispered allowed.
For the first time in a week I grabbed my cote and purse and ran out the door. If this was really Andy then I needed to see him. And if it was a cruel joke then I had to kill whoever was getting the laughs.
When I got to Guido's Pizzeria I started looking around frantically. Suddenly I saw what looked like Andy in his only disguise. The same one he used when we wanted to sneak out, I had one too. Our code names had been Fernando(him) and Julie(me).
"Andy? Is that you?" I exclaimed.
"Shh! Don't say it so loud!"
"Sorry, is that you?" I said this time whispering.
"Yes it's me but I can't stay long."
"Why?" I asked. "And why did you have to fake your death?"
"Whiteness protection. They said I couldn't tall anyone I was still alive but I just had to see you one more time before they re-located me."
"Where are they going to take you?"
"I can't tell you that. Not just for my protection but for yours as well."
"But what happened?"
"I witnessed a murder," he said simply.
"Will I ever get to see you again?" I said holding back tears.
He bit his lip. "I don't think so. Maybe if the murderer is found but it's hard to come back from the dead and he might still have allies out there."
I nodded. "Take me with you!" I pleaded.
"No I can't do that to you. Look it's just best if you try and forget this hole thing."
At that he got up and walked out the door. I got up and ran to the door but I was too late and all there was left was dust in the air from his car speeding off. Well not quite all that was left.
Three weeks later I got another note in the mail--this time the monkey was eating pizza--that said:
I just wanted you to know that I'm fine and I've settled down now. I still can't tell you where I am but I want you to know that I miss you! I hope I will get to see you again some time.
Love Fernando.
*************************
What do you think?
Prompt #4
A monologue from "Vampretina"
Okay so this is the first big monologue I've written for a play so tell me what you think! I don't really know what background you might need on this so if you find it confusing just ask me! Oh except that Titus just called her deranged.
*********************************
ELIZABETH
I am not deranged! And just because I don't want to be a killer doesn't mean I'm not a descent vampire ether. I mean--in theory of cores--if you're looking at it from the prey's perspective vampires are the least bad thing to be eaten by because--besides insects and small birds--vampires are really one of the only living--or semi-living--thing that has the ability to feed without killing. And I don't just mean killing animals, you have to kill plants to eat them too.
The only reason most humans don't think like this is because the vampires that do kill make themselves more widely known. Not to mention that as history has shown that it is the vary worst of a grope that becomes the stereotype for them all. And what dose it do? It only brings hate, it is what has started every war in one form or another. If only it was the good and kind ones that represented the gropes? Then what wold the world be like? If people simply remembered the good and not the bad then maybe, just maybe, we could all live in peace. All humans and all vampires, living side by side in peace. This is my true dream.
**************************
I wrote this in just a matter of minutes because these really are my views and I was relieved to finally have a character who could pull them off!
Saturday, March 6, 2010
Prompt #3
So, I'm betting you all know the story of The Hunchback of Notre Dame in one form or another. So the idea for the original book was when the author (Victor Hugo) took a trip to Notre Dame cathedral and went into the bell tower. There he saw a single word carved into the stone "Fate".
Now I want you to write what kind of story comes to mind if you where to see that word carved into the stone in that bell tower.
Have fun!
Dream Sequence from "End Times"
So this is from the part in the story where Emma (the mane character) has semi-joined the villein and is now constantly questioning her humanity.
*************************************
I was lost. I didn’t know why or where or where I was going I just knew I was lost. I saw someone--or something--on the horizon and started running toward it. It somehow felt as if this--what ever it is--was the only thing keeping me alive and I had to catch it. I tried to run, but it seemed the more I ran the farther away it got. Then right in front of me there was this huge towering animal of some kind and it seemed to threaten to swallow me hole. I tried my best to doge its massive fangs but it was to fast and to big. Just as it was about to engulf me I woke up.
I was just barely able to hold back a scream. Not only was that dream its self terrifying, but I knew exactly what it meant. The thing on the horizon was my good and the monster was my evil and I was slowly being engulfed by my evil. I wouldn’t let that dream come true. Even if it killed me I would not let it come true.
Another song! "Which One?"
So this basically is saying that even though these two vampires are technically at least 1000 years old they still have the same mind set as two teen girls(they look around 17-19). Here they're at a night club choosing what guy to eat...yum?
"Which One?"
ELIZABETH: Which one? Which one? Which one shall I chose to eat?
JOSY: Which one? Which one? Which one will be a tasty treat?
BOTH: Which one? Which one?
ELIZABETH: (spoken) Maybe that guy over there?
JOSY: (spoken) Oh girl, you can do so much better than that.
BOTH: Which one? Which one, shall we eat tonight?
ELIZABETH: Which one? Which one? Which one will be filled with spice?
JOSY: Which one? Which one? Which one will be really nice?
BOTH: Which one? Which one?
JOSY: (spoken) What about that guy in the corner?
ELIZABETH: (spoken) (scoffs) That guy's so high he'll only taste like smoke.
BOTH: Which one? Which one, shall we eat tonight?
ELIZABETH: Which one? Which one? Which one will have yummy blood?
JOSY: Which one? Which one? Which one won't taste like mud?
BOTH: Which one? Which one?
ELIZABETH: (spoken) What about that guy on the dance floor?
JOSY: (spoken) Girl, that guy's got more B.O. the everyone else here combined!
BOTH: Which one? Which one shall we eat tonight?
ELIZABETH: Which one? Which one? Which one is a one-man fest?
JOSY: Which one? Which one? Which one will pass the test?
BOTH: Which one? Which one?
ELIZABETH: (spoken)What about that guy at the bar?
JOSY: (spoken) You know that guy's way too old to be clubbing.
ELIZABETH: (spoken) So are we.
BOTH: (laughs) Which one? Which one, shall we eat tonight? Which one? Which one, shall we eat tonight?
Song from my new musical "Vampretina"
So here is a song from my new musical about vampires. In this song Elizabeth (the mane character) and Titus (her shier) are fighting about her wanting to be human again.
"What's So Wrong?"
ELIZABETH: What's so wrong, about wanting something more?
What's so wrong, about feeling alone?
What's so wrong, about wanting life anew?
TITUS: I'll tell you what's wrong! It's that you're not them!
ELIZABETH: What's so wrong, about wanting a friendly face?
What's so wrong, about wanting to love?
What's so wrong, about lifting your head to laugh?
TITUS: I'll tell you what's wrong! It's that you're not them!
ELIZABETH: What's so wrong, about breathing the dawn's sweet air?
What's so wrong, about felling the breeze?
What's so wrong, about wanting the sun's sweet light?
TITUS: I'll tell you what's wrong! It's that you're not them!
ELIZABETH: And what's so wrong about the flowers?
And what's so wrong about the trees?
And what's so wrong about the blue bird's song?
TITUS: I'll tell you what's wrong! 'cause that's for humans, not you!
*****************************
So that was my first song that I both wrote and composed! How you all like it!
The prologue from "Bloody Love"
Love. It's a strange word, it can mean so many things to so many different people. The dictionary says "a profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person." but love can't be defined just by these simple words, love is something so deep that the greatest poets have yet to write it's true meaning. "Every one deserves someone to love." is what I have heard people say countless times over my long existence. But even so I have never found love. And I really don't think I ever will.
***********
Note: I just wanted to add that this is one of my favorite prologues I have written :)
Hey there!
So now I have a "official" author's blog. I was getting really annoyed with facebook only letting me have really short quotes so I though "hey, I can just have a blog to post my longer ones on!" And this way I can also post prompts for all my writing friends :)
I was thinking so I'm not totally overwhelmed I could do a shot quote on facebook everyday (give of take) and a long quote here about every week!
Sound good? Grate!
